Back from Hibernation!

Back from Hibernation!

After some rather late (and depressing) April snows, we can officially say we're back! The Tea Room is now open and signs of Spring are everywhere.

Crocuses are blooming (some even peeked before the last snows).

Our Rhubarb is showing.

Our Rhubarb is already showing.

And, our lone Asparagus in the growing dome has already produced....not long before we get some from our raised bed.

Although we talk of coming out of hibernation, this Winter has still been a busy one.

After our last blog, we experimented on Black Currant propagation, using some old root stock that grew wild on the farm and has shown to be quite prolific.

An experiment in Black Currant propagation

We have experimented with new wines. We particularly like a sparkling black currant wine we managed to produce (using the Champagne technique).

Winter is great for wine making

We've also continued to develop our liquors. Our favourite is still the Golden Raspberry.

Our fafourite liquor: Golden Raspberry

We've also been developing new recipes. Winter months are perfect for "baking up a storm".

And finally, we even found time to tap our Maple trees!

We're now ready to tackle the new Tea Room season...lots of tours and showers are booked so be sure to make reservations!
